If you've traveled to Japan, Korea, or most of Europe, you already know that bidets are a better way to clean up. The problem in North America has always been space and plumbing. Most bathrooms aren't designed for a standalone bidet next to the toilet. That's where bidet attachments come in. They mount under your existing toilet seat, connect to the water supply line that's already behind your toilet, and work without electricity in most cases.
We installed and tested seven bidet attachments over four months.
Here are the ones that are actually worth the upgrade.
What to Consider Before Buying
The first decision is whether you want a cold-water-only model or one with warm water. Cold-water models are cheaper and simpler to install since they only connect to one supply line. The water isn't as cold as you might fear, especially since it comes from the same supply as your sink. But in winter months in colder climates, it can be bracing.
Warm-water models either connect to the hot water line under your bathroom sink (which means routing a hose across the floor) or use an electric heating element.
Electric models need a nearby outlet and cost more, but they offer the most comfortable experience.
Nozzle position adjustment is important for proper coverage. The best attachments let you move the nozzle forward and back. Dual nozzles with a separate front wash position are standard on mid-range and higher models.
TUSHY Classic 3.0
TUSHY probably did more than any brand to normalize bidets in America, and the Classic 3.0 is their latest cold-water model.
Installation takes about 10 minutes with no tools beyond what's included in the box. The bamboo knob controls water pressure with a smooth rotation that makes it easy to dial in the right level.
The nozzle is self-cleaning, meaning it rinses itself before and after each use. Water pressure range is good, from a gentle rinse to a stronger clean. The slim profile fits under most toilet seats without raising them noticeably.
The main limitation is cold water only. TUSHY makes a warm-water version called the Spa, but it requires connecting to the hot water line under your sink.
Bio Bidet SlimEdge
The SlimEdge lives up to its name. At just a few millimeters thick, it's one of the thinnest attachments available, which means your toilet seat sits almost perfectly flat after installation.
Dual nozzles provide rear and front wash positions, and the pressure control is smooth and precise.
Installation is straightforward, though the mounting hardware feels a bit cheap compared to the TUSHY. The attachment itself is sturdy once installed. Water coverage is thorough, and the nozzle retracts fully when not in use to stay clean.
This is a cold-water model at a very competitive price.
If you want dual nozzles without spending much, it's a strong choice.
TOTO Washlet C5
The TOTO Washlet C5 is a full electric bidet seat rather than just an attachment, and it replaces your existing toilet seat entirely. This puts it in a different price category, but the experience is in a completely different league. Heated water, heated seat, adjustable spray position, oscillating and pulsating wash modes, warm air dryer, and a deodorizer.
Installation requires a nearby GFCI outlet.
The unit replaces your existing seat, so it looks like a normal (if slightly thicker) toilet seat. The remote control panel on the side gives you access to all the settings. Build quality is exceptional, as you'd expect from TOTO.
If you want the full Japanese bidet experience at home, the C5 delivers it. The price is significantly higher than attachment models, but the comfort difference is real.
Luxe Bidet Neo 320
The Luxe Neo 320 is one of the few non-electric models that offers warm water.
It connects to both the cold water supply behind the toilet and the hot water line under your bathroom sink. The included T-adapter and braided hose make installation manageable, though routing the hot water hose can be tricky depending on your bathroom layout.
Dual retractable nozzles handle rear and front washes. The temperature and pressure controls are separate knobs that let you mix hot and cold water to your preference. The chrome-plated control panel looks clean and is easy to operate.
The warm water feature is the main selling point here. For anyone who finds cold-water bidets uncomfortable, this is the most affordable way to get warm water without adding an electrical connection.
Brondell SimpleSpa Thinline
The Brondell SimpleSpa is a no-frills cold-water bidet that does one thing well: provide a clean, reliable water spray at a low price. The single nozzle has a self-cleaning function, the pressure knob is smooth, and installation takes under 15 minutes. The ultra-thin design doesn't raise your seat height noticeably.
It lacks a front wash nozzle and doesn't have the adjustability of more expensive models. But for a bathroom where you want the basics done right, it's a trustworthy option that won't break or leak. Brondell has been making bidet products for years, and the build quality reflects that experience.
The Bottom Line
For most people, the TUSHY Classic 3.0 is the best starting point. It installs in minutes, works reliably, and the brand's customer support is responsive. If you want warm water without electricity, the Luxe Neo 320 is the way to go. And if you want the ultimate experience and have an outlet nearby, the TOTO Washlet C5 is worth every penny.
